Shirley Jeanette Rawls

Shirley Jeanette Birdwell Rawls, age 74, of Greenbrier, TN passed away peacefully at her residence after an extended illness. She was born March 10, 1940 the daughter of James Finis and Vertie Brown Birdwell in Nashville, TN. She attended school at Highland Heights in Nashville, TN. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014, 11:00 AM at Austin & Bell Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel with Elder Gayle Snoddy & Elder David Andrews & Bro. David Rawls officiating. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Porter W. Rawls, brothers, Fred & Jerrell Birdwell; granddaughter, Angel Rawls; great grandchild, Taylor Rawls. She was a long-time member of Greenfield Missionary Baptist Church. She loved music and singing and sang in the gospel group, ‘Gospel Echos’. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by sons, Porter Gene “Bud” Rawls (Sandy), Greenbrier, TN & Chris Rawls (Julie), Springfield, TN; daughters, Brenda Tucker (Ronnie) Greenbrier, TN & Sara Dunivan (Randy), Greenbrier, TN; sister, Helen Hinkle (Lacy), Greenbrier, TN; 13 grandchildren, David Rawls (Melissa), Lena Rawls, April Rawls, Stephanie Stacey (Nathan), Maria Tucker, Johnny Tucker (Jessica), Valanda Caruthers (Eric), Dewayne Dunivan, Kimberly Beckworth (Ethen), David Allen Maggart (Melissa), Diana Bade (Rick), Kristen Rawls & Matt Rawls; 17 and 1 on the way Great Grandchildren, Jordan & Ethan White, Abigail & Connor Stacey, Caleb & Colby Moss, Morgan Rawls, Launa & Katie Caruthers, Nathan, Olivia & Micayla Tucker; Elijah Beckworth, David Allen Maggart II, Mariya Mendoza, Brianna & Austin Boyer, and the 1 on the way, Madelyn Maggart. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Austin and Bell Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel from 2 to 9PM and on Saturday, August 30, 2014 from 9-11AM the hour of the service. Final resting place will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, White House, TN following the service with family serving as pallbearers.
