Alice Catherine Crutcher Tatum

Alice Catherine Crutcher Tatum, age 78, of Greenbrier, TN passed away at Skyline Medical Center, Sunday, January 10, 2016. A Celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2016, 1:00 PM at Austin and Bell Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel with Bro. Roy McConnell officiating. Alice was born on June 5, 1937 in Robertson County, Tennessee the daughter of George Wesley Crutcher and Katie Kathlene Pitt Crutcher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of almost 56 years, Tommy Tatum; sisters, Hazel Crutcher & Juanita Newman; and brother, Robert Crutcher. Tommy and Alice met at Greenbrier High School where she was a cheerleader and he played football, basketball & baseball. They married when she graduated from high school, lived in Greenbrier and started raising their family. She worked as an executive secretary for 48 years in the main office of Third National Bank and later Sun Trust Bank. Alice was the ‘Rock’ of the family. She always loved, nurtured and took care of everyone. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of the joys of her life was reading to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alice loved going shopping and antiquing with her sister and always enjoyed their annual trip to Gatlinburg. She was a long-time member of Robertson County Church of Christ. She is survived by daughters, Desiree (Rob) Cardwell, Greenbrier, TN & Lisa Selim, Greenbrier, TN; brother, J. W. Crutcher, Madison, TN; sisters, Naomi Morrison, Greenbrier, TN & Patricia Holman, Greensburg, Indiana; grandchildren, Nathan Clark, Colin Cardwell, Amy Pinkelton, Tyler Selim; great grandchildren, Emme Claire Clark & Xander Pinkelton. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 4-8PM and on Wednesday prior to the service from 11-1PM at the Funeral Home. Final resting place will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Clark, Colin Cardwell, Tyler Selim, Rob Cardwell, Jon Selim & Jestin Pinkelton.
