Marvin Dowlen, Sr.

September 2, 1934 - October 11, 2021

Marvin Alvie Dowlen, Sr. age 87 of Pleasant View, Tennessee, died Monday, October 11, 2021 at Be Blessed Group Home in Hendersonville. Funeral services will be conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 2:00PM on Saturday, October 16th, with Bro. David Price officiating. Burial will follow in Dowlen Cemetery with Mark Bradshaw, Miki Braswell, Michael Dowlen, Ricky Henderson, Donnie Hunter, and David Spicer serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Dowlen, Freddy Dowlen, Jimmy Dowlen, and Jeffery Dowlen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, October 16th from 10:00AM until the hour of service at 2:00PM. Mr. Dowlen was born on September 2, 1934 in Pleasant View, Tennessee to the late Edgar H. & Nettie Reeves Dowlen. He was the retired owner/operator of the former Pleasant View Shell Service Station. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many. He was gentle, kind, and a man of integrity. He was a member of 24 Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Dowlen; grandson, Josh Krantz; stepson, Scott Cole; and 4 brothers. Survivors include his sons, Marvin Dowlen, Jr., Kerry Dowlen, and Tracy (Regina) Dowlen; daughters, Teresa (Mitch) Walker, Pam Ivey, and Susan (Mark) Bradshaw; grandchildren, Daphne, Andrea, Marvin III, Samantha, Brent, Brittney, Josh, & Chelsea; and 6 great-grandchildren. The family would like to express a special thank you to his loving caregivers at High Point Hospice & Be Blessed Group Home.
