Lynn "Doc" Smiley

Lynn “Doc” Smiley, age 77, of Ridgetop, TN passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Ridgetop Haven after a lengthy illness. He was born in Ridgetop, TN on April 24, 1935 to William “Bill” Smiley and Carrie Ellen Albert Smiley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Jimmy Smiley & sister, June Smiley Bowers. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 11AM at Spring Hill Robertson County Cemetery on Dividing Ridge Rd. with Bro. Jon Briggs officiating. He worked for over 20 years with his Father with W. P. Smiley & Son Mechanical Contractors. He was past owner of “Piggy Pitt Barbeque”. He also worked for many years at Hollingsworth Oil in Maintenance. He was a member of the Greenbrier Masonic Lodge #753 and was a “Past Master” of the Lodge. He was a member of the Springfield Jaycees and a Colonel in the Tennessee State Jaycees. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved his family and friends and loved getting together, cooking out and having big barbeques. He also loved woodworking. He is survived by his wife of over 48 years, Shirley Adcock Smiley, Ridgetop, TN; son & daughter-in-law, Danny & Marsha Smiley, Pleasant View, TN; sister, Nancy Smiley-Stein, Brentwood, TN; 4 grandchildren, Daniel (Brittany) Smiley, Serena (Brian) Collingsworth, Brian (Dana) Biggs, Freddie Biggs; 5 great grandchildren (and one more on the way), Christopher, Hunter, Peyton, Kaylee & Easton. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel from 2-8PM. There will be a Masonic Service at 7PM on Wednesday. Serving as pallbearers at the Graveside Service on Thursday at 11AM will be Brian Biggs, Andy Bowers III, Chip Brake, Brian Collingsworth, Daniel Smiley, Kevin Smiley, Kyle Smiley & Freddie Biggs.
