Lydia Norwood

November 19, 1950 - February 27, 2022

Lydia Jo Haulum Norwood, age 71, of Springfield and life-long resident of Memphis, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Mrs. Norwood’s remains will be cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park in Millington, TN at a later date. Mrs. Norwood was born November 19, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Ralph Henry and Jo Lewis Lawrence Haulum. She enjoyed Harley motorcycles, dancing and music, sewing and crafting, animals of all kinds, especially her dogs and birds. She liked African Violets, tiny boxes, and shopping on Amazon. She was a survivor, was always ready with a story or a joke for everything, even if it was inappropriate. She was known for her big laugh that came easily and often. She loved her girls, but loved their husbands just a little bit more, she was a proud “GiGi” to her grandson, Lukas, and she was sassy and stubborn and full of life. Mrs. Norwood is survived by her husband of 29 years, Roy Lee Norwood; daughters and sons-in-law, Shawn and Darik Smallwood and Kelly Jo and Jake Carlton; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Violet Haulum; sisters and brothers-in-law, Fran and Billy Sparks, Julia Haulum, and Mary Ellen Carroll; and grandson, Lukas Carlton. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to the Memphis Animal Shelter or to the Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park. Any donations may be sent in c/o Austin & Bell. Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements. AUSTIN & BELL FUNERAL HOME- 509 WALNUT STREET, SPRINGFIELD, TN (615) 384-1000
