Lorena Hurt Fuqua

Mrs. Lorena Hazelwood Hurt Fuqua, 86, entered into eternal peace on Sunday, September 28th, 2014 at Signature HealthCARE in Clarksville, Tennessee after a long illness. Lorena was born July 3, 1928, the last of seven children to John Franklin and Ella Hazelwood of Whites Creek, Tennessee. Her sisters, brothers, mother, and father are all passed on. Lorena was married first to Joe Hurt who precedes her in death. Joe and Lorena had two children; daughter, Cathy L. Hurt Henson and husband, Paul W. Henson, son, Joseph Kyle Hurt and wife, Jennifer Howell Hurt, all of Pleasant View. Lorena was an excellent housewife and loving mother. She loved her Lord, her family, her music, trips to the beach, and eating fruit. In her early years she studied piano at Frank School of Music in Nashville, Tennessee. Lorena was an accomplished pianist, organist, and music teacher. She loved playing at her churches and for special social events. She was later married to Milton C. Fuqua, a retired Metro Fire Captain. Lorena is a member of two wonderful churches, Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church of Whites Creek and Grace Baptist Church of Pleasant View, before her illness prevented her from attending. She enjoyed watching Jimmy Swaggart, televangelist, and playing his piano music. It was a wonderful blessing to her. Survivors besides her husband include a daughter, Mrs. Cathy L. Henson of Pleasant View, TN and a son, Joseph Kyle Hurt of Pleasant View, TN; grandchildren, Joseph P. Henson of Hendersonville, TN, J. Adam Hurt of Donelson, TN; great-grandchildren, Jordan B. Henson and J. Carter Henson of Hendersonville, TN; and step-grandchildren, Lindsay and Kathryn Howell of Pleasant View, TN. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the loving caregivers Lorena had at Signatuare HealthCARE of Clarksville for their support in her final days. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 1st, 10 o’clock am, in the Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Reverend Jeremy Squires officiating. Her final resting place will be Nashville National Cemetery in Madison, Tennessee alongside her loving husband, Joe Hurt. Members of the family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 30th, from 4-8:00PM and again on Wednesday from 9:00AM until the hour of service.
