Charles Updike Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Charles Douglas Updike, age 69, of Hendersonville, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. Memorial Services will be held at 5pm, Saturday, August 13 in the chapel of Austin and Bell in Greenbrier. The family will receive friends from 3pm until the hour of service at 5pm on Saturday. Mr. Updike was born October 15, 1952 in Alton , IL to the late Clarence Eugene and Helen Louise Shephard Updike. Doug was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a bachelors degree in Music theory and composition. He was a talented pianist, anyone who heard him play knew that was his gift in life. The gift of music. He also worked along side his father and brothers at the Updike Milling Company in Jerseyville, Illinois. He was retired CEO of Priority Medical, a company he built from the ground up. Doug was a loving father, and a unique brilliant soul. Mr. Updike is survived by his children, Geoffrey (Ashley) Updike, Erin (Chase) Jenkins, Carrie Updike and Michael Updike; 3 grandchildren, Katie And Karleigh Jenkins and Hailey Updike. Siblings William Updike of St Louis, Dr Thomas (Sandra) Updike of Paxton Illinois, Robert (Tammy) Updike of Jerseyville Illinois, Mary Susan (Stan) Watts of Greenfield Illinois, and preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Helen Updike and brother Paul Eugene Updike.
