Roy Elmer Bristol,

Roy Elmer Bristol, Jr., age 87, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at his home. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 7pm. Visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6pm until the hour of service. Mr. Bristol was born May 22, 1927 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Roy Elmer and Cordelia Luteman Bristol, Sr. He worked as a manager at AOSmith, was a veteran of the U.S. Marines having served 34 years, was a member of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) and was a past member of the Power Squadron of Sandusky, Ohio. He was a graduate of the Ohio State University where he was a member of the Delta Theta Sigma Fraternity and member of the National Grange. Mr. Bristol will always be a “Buckeye”. Mr. Bristol was also the National Chief of the YMCA Indian Guides and the founder of the Indian Guide Museum in Bartlesville, OK where he worked with all the Indian Tribes to set up the museum. In addition to his parents Mr. Bristol is preceded in death by his brothers, Randolph Bristol and Rex Bristol and his sister, Rose Christopher. He is survived by his wife, Antoinette Schmitt Bristol; sons, Roy Elmer Bristol, III of Powder Springs, GA, Ron Eric Bristol of Austin, TX, Rob Elliott (Roxanne) Bristol of Marietta, GA, Rich Ellis-Antony (Sue) Bristol of Lone Tree, CO and Dr. Reagan Evan Albert (Marybeth) Bristol of Sandusky, OH; brother, Roger (Joyce) Bristol of Georgetown, TX; sisters, Ryllis (Richard) Ellis of Huron, OH, Reta (James) Stark of Norwalk, OH and Rachel (Robert) Sculac of North Olmsted, OH; grandchildren, Dawn Bristol, Anne Staelens, Ryan Bristol, Samantha Bristol, Sean Bristol, Lt. Jack Bristol and Renee Bristol; great-grandchildren, Lawrence Staelens, V and Liana Staelens; many loving nieces and nephews and loving neighbors. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Waldens Puddle or to the Ascension Lutheran Church and may be sent in c/o Austin & Bell.
