Roger B. Mastin

Roger Mastin, age 77, formerly of Ridgetop, TN passed away suddenly at his residence in Cookeville, TN, Wednesday, June 16, 2010. A Celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 19th at 11 AM at the Greenbrier Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home with Rev. John Blackwell officiating. He was born January 14, 1933 in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Hayden and Cecile Brady Mastin. He enlisted in the Air Force when he was 18 years old and served for 27 years as a radar specialist. During his service he fought in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He and his wife, Eva, lived in Ridgetop, TN for over 31 years and were members of the Ridgetop First Baptist Church. After moving to Cookeville, TN to live with their son and his wife, he became a member of Cookeville Baptist Church. He was a man of great integrity who loved the Lord, his family and his country. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Barbara Ann Reed, Betty Jean Reed and Sarah Catherine Mastin and grandson, Michael Mitchell. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, whom he loved and adored, Eva Arms Mastin; also by the family that loved and cherished him, children, John & Sharon Mastin, Elizabethtown, KY, Pamela Cunningham, Hendersonville, TN, Dianna Ellis, Charleston, SC, Jack & Connie Mitchell, Cookeville, TN, Barbara & Russ Stacey, Cottontown, TN and Shirley & Tony Perrone, Maryville, TN; sister, Brenda Sue Chase, Elizabethtown, TN; 12 adoring grandchildren, John “Vince” Mastin, Jr., Mike Mitchell, Chrissy Hall, Kelly Keogh, Mark Stacey, Jeff Stacey, Jim Stacey, Lisa Groves, Alan Mitchell, Joey Ellis, Justin Ellis, Jeremy Ellis; and 18 cherished great grandchildren. A time of Visitation will be held, Friday, June 18th from 4 to 8 PM and Saturday from 9 to 11 AM prior to the service. Interment will follow with full military honors at Robertson County Memorial Gardens in Springfield, TN. Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Ellis, Justin Ellis, Jeremy Ellis, Alan Mitchell, Jeff Stacey, Mark Stacey, James Stacey and John Mastin.
