Mary Foster

Mary Marjorie Foster, age 93, died at Asbury Place Healthcare Center in Kingsport, TN on October 22, 2008. She was born June 3, 1915 in Muhlenberg County, KY to the late Dr. and Mrs. Charles G. Crowder. She graduated from Central City High School, Central City, KY in 1933. On February 11, 1936 she married L. Howard Foster. Mary Marjorie was a member of Springfield Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher and was active in local mission work. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was active as a volunteer at NorthCrest Medical Center. Mrs. Foster is survived by her daughter, Mary Jean Von Hagen and her husband, Stanley of Madison, NJ; son, Charles H. Foster and his wife, Susan, of Kingsport, TN; son, John T. Foster and his wife Carole of Bartlett, TN; and her son Samuel L. Foster of Memphis, TN. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Karen Fleetwood and her husband, Mark of West Chester, OH; Leigh Ann Pietz and her husband Rick of Netcong, NJ; Matthew Foster and his wife Johanna of Chapel Hill, NC; David Foster and his wife Emily of Arlington, VA; Leslie Foster Herrera and her husband Ricky of Las Cruces, NM; Emily Foster of Oakland, CA and seven great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ryan Pietz of Netcong, NJ; Ellen, Jane and Meg Fleetwood of West Chester, OH; Henry Foster of Arlington, VA and Nadia Herrera of Las Cruces, NM. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, L. Howard Foster; brother, John Crowder and her sister, Eva Jean Lile. Funeral Services for Mrs. Foster will be held at 11am Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Dr. Jerry Oakley officiating. Burial will follow at 3pm on Saturday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City, KY. Relatives and friends are welcome at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home on Saturday, November 1, 2008 from 9:30 until the hour of service at 11am.
