Mack L. Fletcher,

Mack L. Fletcher, Sr., age 90, a lifelong resident of Adams, died Friday, October 12th, 2012 at NHC in Springfield. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 15th, at 10 oclock am from the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Rev. Ken Gillespie officiating and Frankie Fletcher delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Robertson County Memorial Gardens with his grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Donnie Jones, Sammy Cook, Andy Teasley, Bobby Jones, Naomi Riggins, and members of the Adams United Methodist Church Fellowship Class. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-6:00PM. There will be no public visitation on Monday morning. One more of Americas Greatest Generation has passed. Mr. Fletcher was born January 27, 1922 in Guthrie, KY to the late John F. and Nellie C. Parker Fletcher. He was a loving and devoted husband of 63 years and a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather beyond compare. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II where he was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, American Service Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star. He was a farmer, and a partner with Springfield Tobacco Warehouse. Mr. Fletcher was a member of the Adams United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Elizabeth Lokey Fletcher; sisters, Bessie Lee Pulley, Mabel Qualls, Ann Tarpley, Nell Pulley, Opal Jackson; brothers, John R. Fletcher, and four year old brother, J.R. Survivors include his son, Mack L. (Frankie) Fletcher, Jr. of Springfield; daughters, Mitzi F. (Charles) Head of Henrietta, Mona F. Bryant of Springfield; grandchildren, John Ed (Julie) Fletcher, James Mack (Emily) Fletcher, Mary Frank (Lyle) Payne, Chuck (Jacqueline) Head, Tracy Head (Brandon) Douglas, Brandy Bryant (Tant) Dowell, III., Steven Alan (Jennifer) Bryant; great-grandchildren, Katie, Kyle, Jake, Levi, and Boone Fletcher, Corey Beth Smith, Allyson, Rachel, and Reese Payne, Ashley, Austin, Abby and Ally Douglas, Avery, Zachary, Joshua, Betty Jean, and Lizzie Beth Head, Emma Grace Dowell. The family requests memorial contributions to the Adams United Methodist Church. All donations may be sent in care of Austin and Bell.
