John Thomas "Tommy" Choate

John Thomas “Tommy” Choate, age 83, of Greenbrier, TN and Moore Haven Florida, passed away at NorthCrest Medical Center on Monday, February 11, 2013. He was born in Detroit, Michigan to John Nelvin Choate & Katie Lou Porter Choate on July 19, 1929. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Bettye Jo Hinkle Choate and great grandson, Joshua K. Choate. A Celebration of his life will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Frank Evans officiating. Tommy was an avid athlete in high school, playing baseball, football and tennis and he played Minor League baseball. He loved watching college football, fishing, bluegrass music, old country music, & watching old westerns. He raised miniature mules, loved his farm, rode at the local saddle clubs, loved dancing and going to the Long Hollow Jamboree. He loved to travel and had visited 49 states in the USA. He was a member of Lake Port Christian Church in Moore Haven, FL. He is survived by his wife of almost 15 years, Becky Click Choate, Greenbrier, TN & Moore Haven, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Tommie Jo Choate Callis & Danny, Greenbrier, TN; sons & daughters-in-law, Johnny & Joy Choate, Greenbrier, TN, Jerry & Mary Choate, Greenbrier, TN, Kenny & Terry Wade Choate, Ashland City, TN; brothers & sister-in-law, Wendell Choate, Greenbrier, TN, Billy Ray Choate, Pleasant View, TN, & Bobby & Carolyn Choate, Greenbrier, TN; sister & brother-in-law, Betty Katherine & Jimmy Brigman, Greenbrier, TN; grandchildren, Shawn Cook, Joshua Callis, Brandi (Tommy) Sigears, Christy (Darrell) Suter, Casey Choate, & Jacob Choate; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; best friends, Harold Douglas and Edward Hyder (who is now deceased). Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 10-2pm the hour of the service at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Final resting place will be in Rock Springs Baptist Church with Josh Callis, Jerry Choate, Roane Choate, Michael Choate, Casey Choate, Jacob Choate, Darrell Suter, & Dewayne Brigman serving as pallbearers.
