James "Jim" Nelson Gamble

James Nelson “Jim” Gamble, age 75, of Greenbrier, TN passed away at NHC in Springfield, TN on February 1, 2015. He was born in Springfield, TN on February 14, 1939 the son of Leonard Elvis Gamble and Naomi Elizabeth Woodard Gamble. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Winston Gamble and grandson, Steven Shane Nielsen. A Celebration of his life will be held at Austin & Bell Funeral Home, Greenbrier on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 7PM with Bro. Joshua Couts officiating. Friends may visit prior to the service from 5-7PM on Friday. He grew up in the Bakers Road area of Goodlettsville, TN where he and his brother Winston were very mischievous children when they were growing up. He graduated at the top of his class from Georgia Tech with his Masters in Organic Chemistry. He was a long-time Chemist and Sales Manager for ChemTreat Inc. in Florida and in Tennessee. He made friends easily and his friends were very important to him. He loved playing golf and going to any and all football games, especially Georgia Tech football games. He was a huge Georgia Tech football fan. He was a man of tremendous faith who loved his wife and family very much. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and his family was always a priority. He was a loving man with a huge heart who loved to laugh. He served as a Deacon in many of the churches they attended and was active in the Womens Prison Ministry. He was a member at Parkway Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 56 years and love of his life, Dorothy "Dot" Freedle Gamble, Greenbrier, TN; son, James Nelson Gamble, Jr., Greenbrier, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly & Steve Nielsen, Palm City, Florida, Kaye & Joe Traficonte, Palm City, Florida, Kari & Michael Waggoner, Nashville, TN; brother, Len Gamble, Hendersonville, TN; 8 grandchildren, Spencer Nielsen, Sarah Powell, Devon Yates, Danelle Gamble, Tanner Barfield, Kershel Barfield, Klaudia Barfield & Thaddaios Waggoner; and 10 great grandchildren. Final resting place will be at Beech Cemetery, Goodlettsville, TN on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 10:00AM. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Waggoner, Seth Gamble, Nick Gamble, Len Gamble, Will Grant, David Gamble, Devon Yates & Sarah Powell.
