"Jack" John Raymond Ovsak

Jack Ovsak, age 81, of Greenbrier, TN passed away suddenly at his residence on Monday, December 30, 2013. He was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on July 3, 1932. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ovsak Mack and son, John Raymond Ovsak, Jr., "Buddy". A Celebration of his life will be held 10AM, Friday, January 3, 2014 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel with Bro. Steve Carter officiating. He was the owner of Ovsak Excavating Company after his retirement from the US Army where he served his country proudly for over 20 years. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a man who 'loved to work', enjoyed collecting and restoring John Deere tractors and collecting and restoring all types of hauling and excavating equipment. He always rode his vintage John Deere tractor in the 4th of July Parade in Greenbrier. He was a member of American Legion Post 45. He loved his farm and raising beef cattle, but most of all loved his grandchildren and having them at his farm and watching them fish for catfish in the big pond on his property. He was a man who had a big heart for helping people and over the years had made many friends. He is survived by his wife Barbara Ovsak, Greenbrier, TN; sons & daughter-in-law, Chris & Deanna Ovsak, Louisville, KY, Tom Ovsak, Greenbrier, TN; daughters & sons-in-law, Mary Lou & Todd Miller, Greenbrier, TN, Vicky Ovsak & Carl Gluf, Hendersonville, TN, Michelle & Mark Carter, Greenbrier, TN; brothers, Frank, Eddie, Ronnie, Steve, & Mike Mack all of East Grand Forks, Minnesota; sisters, Eleanore Bridgeford and Margaret Farstad, both of East Grand Forks, Minnesota; 8 grandchildren, Dana & Justin Ovsak; Brad Poole, Chad Poole, Rebecca O'Saile; Stetson, Jackson, & Madison Carter; 7 great grandchildren, Braden, McKenzie, Natasia, Cain, Ashton, Max & Camden. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 2 to 8 PM at Austin & Bell Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel and on Friday January 3, 2014 prior to the service from 9 to 10AM. Final resting place will be close to the place of his original military service, Ft. Campbell, KY at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, 5817 Fort Campbell Blvd, Hopkinsville, KY 42240 with full military honors at 2PM on Friday, January 3, 2013.
