Don Head, Jr.

Don Keith Head, Jr., age 59, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville after a courageous nine year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 1pm at the Green Ridge Church of Christ with Brother Jack Martin and Brother Chet Duke officiating. Burial will follow in the Harper Hill Cemetery in Springfield with Keith Head, Justin Head, Billy Batson, Carney Felts, John Fox, Sonny McMahan, Tim Crutcher, Joe King, Joe Maxey and Tony Neal serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Cerone, Clifford Reid, Johnny Marlin, Kelvin Penuel, Billy Corbin, Frank Hemphill, Roger Blackwood, Tony Jones, Rusty Fox, Charles Moran and all the Warranty Title Employees and close business associates. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 4-8pm and again on Saturday at the church from 11am until the hour of service at 1pm. Mr. Head was born August 29, 1956 in Robertson County to Mr. Don and Catherine Cohea Head, Sr. He graduated from UT Knoxville in 1978 and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho. After college he worked at Production Credit in Springfield then was a loan officer at Farmer’s Bank. Mr. Head later opened his own business, Southern Title, which later became Warranty Title. He and his cousin, Bruce Head, were also partners in several business ventures. During his lifetime he was a prominent member of many business organizations and was currently on the Springfield Industrial Board. His hobbies included golf, working on tractors and Peterbilts. He was even active in tractor pulling at one time. Mr. Head loved the Lord, was an active member of the Green Ridge Church of Christ and was currently writing the blog “Sewing Seeds 2015.com”. In addition to his parents Mr. Head is survived by his son, Don Keith (Giselle Fontenot) Head, III of Springfield; daughter, Lindsey (Justin) Head of Cedar Hill; brothers, Tim Head of White House and Randy Head of Springfield; special cousin, Bruce (Laurel) Head of Springfield; grandchildren, Miley Head, Jax Head and Jase Head; and several loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to add a special “Thank You” to Dr. Greco and the Staff of Tennessee Oncology for their kindness and ongoing support during this time. The family also requests memorial contributions be made to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center or to the American Cancer Association. Both may be sent in c/o Austin & Bell.
