Christine Edwards

Christine Brooks Edwards, age 89, of Springfield, gained her heavenly wings on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at her home after a long illness. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 19, 2020 at 11am in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother David Evans and Reverend Doug Spain officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery with Tony Brooks, Will Brooks, Greg Konkol, Brian Edwards, John Edwards and Anthony Edwards serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 18, 2020 from 4-8pm and again on Friday from 10am until the hour of service at 11am. Mrs. Edwards was born March 22, 1931 in the Lakeview Community of Robertson County, to the late William Guy and Gladys Eden Brooks. She married William Lewis “Bill” Edwards on December 23, 1947 in Simpson County, KY. She was a seamstress, a member of Grace Free Will Baptist Church and a Lifetime Member of the Robertson County Rescue Squad. Mrs. Edwards’ favorite thing was being “Nanny” for many years to a host of loving children that she kept. In addition to her parents Mrs. Edwards is preceded in death by her husband Bill, of 43 years, daughter, Joyce Lynn Edwards Whitaker, sons, Terry Bryant Edwards and Timothy Wayne Edwards, brothers, William Ray Brooks, Jesse Dailey Brooks and Archie Ray Brooks, and her sister, Alice Jeanette Brooks Chandler. Mrs. Edwards is survived by her son, William Dewey (Deloris) Edwards of Springfield; son-in-law, George Whitaker of Adairville; brothers, Richard Earl (Mary) Brooks of Russellville, Charles Wayne (Kay) Brooks of Elkton and Andrew Eugene (Helen) Brooks of Gallatin; grandchildren, Nathan Ray Whitaker of Adairville, Shannon Denise (Dana) Edwards of Dickson, Tracey DeAnne (Greg) Konkol of Clarksville, Dana “Nikki” (William) Mitchell of Springfield, Michael Brian (Melanie) Edwards of Springfield and John Curtis (Amy) Edwards of Cedar Hill; and great-grandchildren, Markley Konkol, Lily Mitchell, Ethan Konkol, Celes Mitchell, Fin Konkol, Samantha Whitaker, Connor Edwards, Anthony Edwards, Chase Vreeland, Autumn Edwards and Ryman Edwards. Mrs. Edwards is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements.
