Bonnie Jean McIntosh

Bonnie Jean Garrett McIntosh, age 81, of Barren Plains, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 20, 2015 at 1pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Joe Hinkle officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with Jody Thompson, Nolan Thompson, Brandon Sherer, Ernest Spain, Marty Spain, Donnie Baldwin, David Dever, Jason Smith and Jerry Henry serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 3-8pm and again on Friday from 10am until the hour of service at 1pm. Mrs. McIntosh was born October 21, 1934 in Barren Plains to the late Taylor and Bonnie Murphy Garrett. She was a retired school teacher, member of Business Women of Springfield, and was the organist for Barren Plains Baptist Church for more than 60 years where she was a member. In addition to her parents Mrs. McIntosh is preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow McIntosh, her step-daughter, Carol McIntosh Holland, her niece, Anne Taylor Garner and her nephew, Joseph Mart Murphy. Mrs. McIntosh is survived by her step-daughter, Sherry McIntosh (Donald) Baldwin of Springfield; sister, Elizabeth Anne Murphy of Springfield; nieces, Margaret Murphy Thompson of Springfield and Lucy Ellen Murphy (Ernest) Spain of Maryland; great-niece, Tori (Bandon) Sherer; great-nephews, Marty (Dee) Spain and Jody (Jenifer) Thompson; grandchildren, Randy Holland, Sonya (Jerry) Henry, Angela (Larry) Pollard, Tracy (David) Dever and Holly (Jason) Smith; 6 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Barren Plains Baptist Church and may be sent in c/o Austin & Bell.
