Calvin William Shaffer

Calvin Shaffer, age 91 years old, of Goodlettsville, TN passed away after a brief illness at the Skyline Madison Campus Alive Hospice, on Monday, October 17, 2011. He was born in Fallen Timber, PA on March 14, 1920, the son of Charles Shaffer and Elizabeth Shomo Shaffer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Keith Shaffer; brothers, Boyd & Blair Shaffer; sisters, Nellie Hollis & Virginia Russin. A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, 11AM at the Ridgetop Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Ridgetop, TN with Pastor Jeremiah Smart officiating. Calvin Shaffer was a man of many talents. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and received medals for his work as a Dental Technician with the troops. He was employed as a dental technician and operated his own lab to make dentures for several dentists in the Middle Tennessee area. He was a member of the Ridgetop Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He played the accordion and loved music. He sang with the men’s choir at the church. He was a man of tremendous passion who lived his entire life with passion for living life to its fullest. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Jeanine LaBelle Shaffer; son, Tim Shaffer, Prince Fredrick, MD; step-sons, Tim (Cathy) Townsend, Madison, TN, Danny Townsend, Orange, CA, Dale (Janet) Townsend, Hayward, CA; daughter, Helen (David) Park, Arrington, VA; step-daughter, Jean (Bernie) Roberton, Loveland, CO; grandchildren, Beth Fealey, Amanda Townsend Brown, & Eric Townsend. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Austin Bell Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, from 6-8PM and on Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 10-11AM the time of the Service at the Ridgetop Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Final resting place will be at the Bordeaux Adventist Memorial Garden in Nashville, TN with full military honors.
