U.S. Veteran

Charles Edgen "Pickle" Heathman, age 87, of Pleasant View, died Sunday, March 9th, 2014 at Northcrest Medical Center in Springfield. Funeral mass will be conducted Wednesday, March 12th at 11 o’clock am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Prentice Dean serving as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery with Matt Heathman, Lee Bracey, Russell Boak, Josh West, Kevin Thompson, and Elmer Heathman serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Justice, Bernard "Pete" Murphy, Mike Bracey, Robert Head, and Dr. Matt Browning. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4-8:00PM and again on Wednesday from 9-10:00AM at the funeral home. A Rosary Service will be held at the funeral home at 7:30PM Tuesday.

Mr. Heathman was born October 22, 1926 in Cheatham County, Tennessee to the late Homer and Iva Edgen Heathman. He retired from Genesco after more than 50 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Charles Murphy Heathman; brothers, Hilliard and Ralph Heathman; sisters, Mildred Woodson, Julia Glover, and Earline Potts. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Elizabeth “Pat” Heathman; son, Mark (Cathy) Heathman of Springfield; daughter, Diane (Mike) Bracey of Ashland City; daughter-in-law, Myra Heathman of Pleasant View; grandchildren; Shelly (Kevin) Thompson, Leslie (Russell) Boak, Kim (Josh) West, Matt Heathman, Lee (Laura) Bracey; and great-grandchildren, Parker, Kala, & Shelby Thompson and Adam & Lucas Boak.
