James William Burney, age 90, of Cedar Hill, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Springfield. A Memorial Service will be held at the New Life General Baptist Church in Adairville, KY on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 3pm with Brother David Harper officiating.
Mr. Burney was born November 19, 1921 in Robertson County to the late Harry and Annie Murphy Burney. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII, worked in Maintenance at the Southern Heel Company and loved to fish and hunt.
Mr. Burney is survived by his wife, Alice Douglas Burney; daughters, Misty (Jeff) Yates and Sara (Tony) Smith of Greenbrier; brother, Donald Burney of Springfield; sister, Elizabeth Watts of Stroudsville; grandchildren, Brooklyn McKinney, Hailey McKinney, Jaiden McKinney and Velvet Eden; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss him very much.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the James W. Burney Memorial Fund in c/o Austin & Bell.
