Charles Murphy “Chuck” Norris, Sr., age 73, of Springfield, passed away Monday, March 7, 2011 at Skyline Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Noon in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Alan Woodard and Melanie Grace officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with Brandon Payne, Dakota Norris, Matthew Guinn, Chase Norris, Christal Norris, Danielle Wine, Andy Legate, Tim Peek and Frankie Hallums serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, March 9, 2011 from 10am-2pm and from 4-8pm. Visitation will also be held Thursday morning from 10am until the hour of service at Noon.

Mr. Norris was born September 22, 1927 in Springfield to the late Fred and Earline Sommers Norris. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, worked as a truck driver for Volunteer Express, was a member of the American Legion, Post 45 and was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents Mr. Norris is preceded in death by his brother, Reverend John Daniel Norris; sisters, Eddie Neal Payne and Naomi Jean Norris; and his beloved mother-in-law, Myrtle “Lady Bug” Walker. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Helen Huffman Norris; sons, Charles “Chuck” (Glenda) Norris, Jr. of Springfield, Chris (Cheryl) Norris of Cedar Hill and Danny (Veronica) Wine of Pleasant View; daughters, Brenda (Terry) Kelch of Greenbrier, Belinda (Dave) Kelly of Greenbrier, Bridget (Van) Perdue of Gallatin and Christi (Mark) Armstrong of Springfield; brother, Fred (Pat) Norris of Orlando, FL; sisters, Agnes (Hugh) Hallums of Springfield and Marjorie Norris of Springfield; brother and sister-in-law, John and Debbie Huffman of Springfield; sister-in-law, Martha Norris of Greenbrier; God-Children, Garry and Nancy Harker, Jr. of Apopka, FL and Rachel and Mark Martin of Springfield; grandchildren, Brandon (Jana) Payne, Matthew Guinn, Dakota Norris, Chase Norris, Anne Marie Legate, McKenzie Guinn, Charlsie Norris, Jasmine Norris, Jake Hyde, Jesse Hyde, Christal Norris, Danielle Wine, Amber Armstrong, Garry Harker, III, Mark Harker, Mark (Pollie) Armstrong, Breanna Wine, Stephanie Harker, and Misty (Josh) Bedwell; and great-grandchildren, Isabelle Holmes, Brockton Cantrel, Camron Cantrel, Shaniya Pierre, Dalton Bedwell, Dillon Bedwell and Dakota Bedwell.
